Shaabi means 'of the people'. It originated in Cairo in the 1970s, as a new form of urban music and dance expressing the emotions of modern Egyptian life. In this class, we will work with a fabulous Shaabi song - "Hoshy Ya'amma" (from Sr. Samy Farag - Cairo Nights Vol. 4) while exploring Shaabi movements and attitude. We will build a short combination to practice. Prepare to work up a sweat with this one!
