Lara has been fascinated by her own embodiment since she somersaulted out of the womb and danced through childhood. Today Lara is helping to establish the field of sexual wellness as a yoga teacher and somatic sexologist with a speciality in women’s health.
FOUNDATION
She began her formal yoga and meditation practice over 12 years ago and became certified as a vinyasa flow teacher in 2006. Lara spent several years in intensive study and assistantship to global trailblazer Shiva Rea. In 2007 Lara became certified as an AcroYoga teacher, a partner-based practice that blends yoga, Thai massage and acrobatics. Lara was a catalyst in helping to grow AcroYoga’s worldwide influence and assisted co-founders Jason Nemer and Jenny Sauer-Klein at conferences and workshops across the globe.
Lara became certified as a birth doula in 2005 inspiring her path of educating women about their bodies and helping couples navigate their relationships. Lara has attended nearly 50 women in labor as a birth doula and midwife assistant. She has been greatly impacted by the work of somatic educator Ellen Heed, a hands-on healer and pioneer in women’s healing. In 2010 Lara embarked on a year long apprenticeship with world renowned somatic sexologist, Jaiya, and has assisted Heed and Jaiya in their revolutionary research project on postpartum sexuality, RSVP. In 2012 Lara completed certification as a somatic sexologist and sexological bodyworker.
EVOLUTION
Lara has taught a diverse group of students throughout the United States and Europe. Lara teaches fun, creative group classes that span the subjects of yoga and movement, women’s anatomy and sexuality, and relationships and communication. At her home base in Los Angeles she has a thriving private teaching practice where she works with everyone from Hollywood celebrities to full time mommies. Lara’s personalized wellness programs seamlessly weave her years of experience to support every woman through all phases of life.
Lara’s mission is to contribute to the evolution of women’s holistic wellness and sexuality, empowering radiant health and pleasure. In 2011 she began development of the Restore Your Core program that includes nonsurgical approaches to diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and pelvic pain and dysfunction. Lara trains fitness, birth and medical professionals in her progressive approach to core health. She is the creator of the web series Sexual Wellness TV and author of the e-book, 31 Ways to Keep It Hot.
