About Debra
Debra Lynn has 20 years as a professional singer and voice instructor, predominantly working with beginners and amateur singers who want to get better results. Her book "The Bel Canto Buzz: Italian Ease For Today's Singers" was published in 2012. This little known technique is awesome for contemporary singers wanting to get the edge in this competitive market. It is a healthy and effective way to approach singing and maintain your instrument in acoustic and amplified situations. It is good for all ages and helps with speech-related issues, as well as boosts confidence and one's ability to perform in public! -- This is what other people say about Debra and her bel canto approach -- "As a student of a very well trained and experienced teacher, who herself is a direct line scholar of Bel Canto, I must say that in today's world, this way of approaching vocal technique is a secret...In today's world of radio mic's, electronic voice enhancement and diversification of styles, really learning how to sing...without losing or damaging one's voice is something Bel Canto can teach, and does teach." ~Anthony Hehir -- "Working with Debra regularly, I obtained a complete confidence in what's going to happen whenever I sing, no matter the conditions. To know exactly what's going to come out when I open my mouth removes stage fright, uncertainty and makes performing so much more fun!" ~Max Reid, PhD EE, Stanford and MBA, Berkeley -- Evie's Story: "A few years ago, when I was only 62 years old, I went to 'Singing Camp'. Being new to barbershop, I was keen to learn & eagerly took my seat at one of the most popular vocal production classes. During the preliminary introduction time, one of the questions was, "What do you hope to achieve in this class?". When it was my turn to share, I hesitantly stood and told the group that I didn't want to sound like an old lady when I sang. The immediate response was, "But you ARE an old lady!". The course went rather downhill after that. Since I love to sing, can hold a tune, and am not afraid of performing, I soldiered on. I took lessons, studied books, went to workshops, and tried all the warm up CD's on the market. Then I met Debra Lynn, signed up for online lessons, and began the most exciting journey of my life. This experience with her teaching has lifted me in so many ways! I am confident and fearless. Never before would I sing in a quartet situation. Recently, the section leaders sang ‘I Believe’ numerous times as we taught it to the chorus. And I sang it out...the bottom line is this, Debra believed in the possibilities, helped me find my voice and to NOT sound like an old lady!" ~Evelyn Hazzard
